Lingering Thoughts on Maus II

I am really interested in why it was written as comics.  I know it was written by a comic artist but it is interesting because each group was depicted as a different animal.  I found it really disconcerting that something so horrible was depicted in a somewhat comical format.  It stuck with me a lot better than any other book I had read about it.  I tend to find second-had accounts fascinating and they stick with me much more than any other way that things are depicted.  Especially if they are written as novels or in some why that is not really fact heavy.  I'm not entirely sure that I like it written as comics.  It definitely disturbs me.
